ARMY OUTMANOEUVRES OTHER EMPLOYERS
If you’re unsure about the career path you want to take or know exactly what you want to do, without knowing how you’re going to do it, why not explore the opportunities that the Army has to offer by visiting the stand at the Harrogate Advertiser’s jobs fair on 20th May at The Masonic Hall?
With over 140 trades over 13,000 Regular Army jobs and 6,000 Territorial Army vacancies on offer, you could be spoilt for choice.
Whether you want to continue in education or take a step up the career ladder the Army can offer a whole host of career packages to suit your needs. With entry level Soldiers starting on £12,564 and rising to £15,672 after initial training and Officers starting on £14,852 on joining which goes up to between £23,475 and £28, 962 (depending on graduate status), an Army ‘apprenticeship’ is like no other.
WO2 Steve Harriman from the Leeds Armed Forces Careers Office says: “What many people don’t realise is that even without lots of qualifications upon entering the Army, there is a wide range of qualifications that you can gain throughout Army life.
“Enlistments can look forward to NVQs in Learning and Development and NVQ Level 2 in Communication Technologies alongside Information Technology Certificates and the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), team leading and management qualifications as well as gaining full driving licences, such as Large Goods Vehicle (Category C) licence, which are with you for life.“
