TRIBUTES have been paid by family and friends of a footballer who died on the pitch at a match on Saturday. Adam Tennant, 41, from Hornbeam Crescent, collapsed at a football game from a heart related condition, and died shortly afterwards.

A long term footballer for Spa Athletic and former Harrogate Town Reserves player, the match at Killinghall Moor against Kirk Deighton was abandoned after the incident which occurred ten minutes into the game.
He leaves a widow, Amanda and three boys Sam, 14, Charlie, 11, and Max 9.
In a moving tribute his wife said: “I will miss his strength, support, infectious ready humour and wit, and his overall joy of living. Adam only saw good in other people and I know that with the network of our family and friends I will somehow find strength to raise our wonderful children and instil in them all that he was.”
She expressed her thanks to all those who had given her and the family support during this difficult time.
A popular family man and well regarded member of the community, many have come forward to pay tribute to him, through his role as footballer, friend, fundraiser, colleague and school governor.
His death came as an unexpected loss to the community, he was a keen sportsman and as well as his football achievements he completed the New York Marathon in under two and a half hours in 2005

I knew Adam first when he was in his final year at Ashville and have met him at various times since. I shared a room with him on a stag weekend and wished i had a physique like him, i shared a night out with him at Flares a year ago and wished i had his vitality and humour. Whenever and wherever it was that i met him, he was the same person; a really nice guy with a total dedication to living life to the full. Someone whom you would most aspire to be. However little you knew Adam he made you feel like you had known him forever. I wish i had seen him more often, I will miss him. My condolences go to Amanda and the family whose strength and bravery and love were there for us all to see yesterday. The service was moving and inspirational and a fitting tribute to a very fine man.
