Harrogate Comedy Festival
SEAN Hughes, Stewart Lee and Julian Clary will be among the names performing in the first ever Comedy Festival at Harrogate Theatre in October.

The three-week festival, which was launched this week, will feature 18 comedy shows from a range of established and up-and-coming stand-up performers.

The festival will culminate in a week-long programme of events across both auditoriums as the Studio Theatre will be transformed into a comedy club.
David Bown, chief executive of Harrogate Theatre, said: “I hope people will be as excited as we are about the first Harrogate Comedy Festival.
“The acts we have attracted for this year are some of the most electrifying performers on the circuit. This annual festival will make Harrogate Theatre a magnet for some of the biggest names in comedy.”

The first six headline acts for the festival were announced this week, with tickets going on sale on Monday, May 4.

They are BBC2 Comedy Vehicle star Stewart Lee, Never Mind The Buzzcocks regular Sean Hughes, award-winning Radio 4 personality Milton Jones, Australian comic Jim Jeffries, stand-up children’s comedian Ian Billings, and the outrageous Julian Clary.

More acts will be announced during the coming weeks but members of the public can join the priority information list by calling the Box Office on 01423 502 116. Tickets are also available on this number.

The Harrogate Comedy Festival runs from Monday, October 12, to Saturday, October 31.
