THINK you could give the authors at this year’s Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival a run for their money?

Well, here's your chance - Harrogate's favourite short story competition returns this year - but with a twist. Budding crime writers are being invited to put pen to paper for the Harrogate Advertiser Series Short Crime Story Competition, run in conjunction with the Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival.

The twist is that, instead of adding to an opening paragraph as in previous years, people are being invited to write a story of no more than 300 words which leads up to the final paragraph penned by award-winning author Laura Wilson. Wilson, who is also the programming chair of the festival, will be judging the entries.

The winner of the competition will receive a full day ticket to the festival’s Creative Thursday on July 23, which offers a unique day of workshops and seminars with leading crime writers and experts in the field of crime.
