McCormicks Solicitors has crowned a golden year in 2007 by winning the highest number of recommendations ever for a Harrogate practice in the UK’s principal guide to the legal profession, the Legal 500.

The firm consolidated its entire operation into Harrogate earlier this year after a buy-out of its Leeds office and has since doubled both the size of its team and the size of its offices in East Parade. McCormicks was founded by senior partner Peter McCormick and this year marks the 20th anniversary of the opening of its Harrogate office, which represents a number of leading businesses in the area.

McCormicks offers a full range of legal services and its strength is highlighted by the latest edition of the Legal 500 which recommends the firm for its work in 12 areas of law, including a national recommendation for its work in Sport Law. Peter McCormick is recognised as a leading solicitor in Yorkshire and the Humber.

The firm’s commercial expertise is recognised in a number of legal disciplines, including Corporate and Commercial, Commercial Litigation, Crime and Fraud, Employment, Agriculture and Estates, Charities, Commercial Property, Property Litigation and Media and Entertainment. It is also recommended for its services to individuals, being recognised for its Family and Personal Tax, Trusts and Probate work.

All three McCormicks’ partners – Peter McCormick, Neil Goodrum and Geoff Rogers – are named as experts in a total of 12 areas of law. McCormicks also sponsors and organises the Yorkshire Young Achievers Awards for which raise funds for NCH. The awards, which celebrate their 15th anniversary this year, have raised a total of more than £500,000 for the leading children’s charity.

They recognise achievement by young people aged under 35 and previous winners have included Radio 1 presenter Chris Moyles and top Leeds band the Kaiser Chiefs. This year’s event takes place at the Banqueting Suite at Leeds United Football Club on Thursday 8 November and, as always, promises some outstanding winners.
