Lifetime Achievement Award:
sponsored by Cicada Communications Ltd

This category is about staying power, business acumen and willingness to adapt – attributes which Cicada Communications has shown consistently over the years.

The Harrogate based public relations consultancy celebrated its 20 th year in business this summer by re-launching itself as a full-service communications agency.

Previously Cicada Public Relations, the firm has in recent years expanded its capabilities to encompass all areas of communications, from ‘traditional’ PR disciplines such as media relations and event management, to internal communications, branding and new media applications.

While historically Cicada has enjoyed particular success in the business-to-business sector, serving clients such as the Institute of Directors, founder and managing director Di Burton has been eager to develop the company’s expertise in a range of other sectors.

Cicada’s current client portfolio reflects this diversification, with the firm’s eight-strong team working with customers in a range of sectors, from voluntary (Diabetes UK, the Royal Entomological Society) to property (Carter Jonas) to financial services (Prosperis Ltd, Smart & Cook) and lifestyle consumer (Lapicida Stone Production).

Looking ahead to 2008, Cicada’s team of account handlers are set to be busier than ever, with a healthy stream of new business in the pipeline.

Explaining why Cicada chose to sponsor the Lifetime Achievement Award, Di Burton said:

“To build a successful business you need passion, determination and persistence. In a society where increasingly, emphasis is placed on how to ‘get rich quick’ we are pleased to support those people who are in it for the long haul.

“Just as Cicada has adapted over the years to the changing needs of the communications industry, so nominees for the Lifetime Achievement Award have shown real focus, talent and flexibility.

“We wish the winner of this award continued success and recognition in all of his or her endeavours.”
